My promise to you – I will do my absolute best to give you the best ROI on your attention, so that you can leverage your time to get the things you want in business…faster.
So with this inaugural article, I thought it would make the most sense to start at the top.
→ How to grow a business.
This entire site is dedicated to this topic, and the many failures and lessons we learned along our way to pass our first $100,000,000 in sales.
I suffer from many insecurities of not being good enough. But at the urging of my employees, family, and customers, (of which we have over 100,000+ between all companies), I have decided to document my thoughts and frameworks on the topic.
I have been fortunate enough to generate my first $100M+ revenue across four industries: Brick & Mortar, Service, Ecommerce, and Software.
With each business, I learned new and different frameworks that I was able to apply to the other businesses with outsized returns.
I will share those lessons with you.
That being said, in order to understand the “tactics” the “how” we must understand the objective. The “what” we are trying to accomplish.
As this first article, I will focus on the biggest, and most frequently desired objective: GROWTH
All other articles are fundamentally a subset of this greater topic:
How do I grow my business?
Answer: There are only TWO ways:
- Increase Acquisition→ You can get more customers.
- Increase Lifetime Gross Profit (LTGP) → You can make your customers worth more.
If you don’t believe me, take a second and think of a way that increases how much money you make that does not fall under one of those two buckets.
Right. There aren’t any. It took me 4 years in business to even understand this concept.
That being said, there are many WAYS to get more customers.
And of course, there are equally many WAYS to increase how much customers are worth.
But fundamentally, understanding that everything you do in your business must have the objective to get your customers to be worth more, or get more of them, will serve you well in focusing your attention. You only have so much, so you need to focus it on the actions that will move the needle the most.
If you are starting out, $0-$1M, or are a little further along $1M-$10M, or $10M+ I hope this thought process will serve you as it has served me.
